The 61-year-old, who played for Leeds United between 1967 and 1976, was back at home on Friday following the blaze.

The former Welsh international, who was treated for smoke inhalation, said: “I’m absolutely fine. It was just a chip pan fire which happened last night.

“I was taken to hospital where they treated me for smoke inhalation, but other than that I’m fine.”

Black smoke stains could be seen on the exterior walls of the three-storey block of flats.
