Millwall 0 Bradford 0: Determined City show no fear in Lions’ den

BRADFORD manager Phil Parkinson praised his side for their battling qualities as they picked up a valuable point on the road.

The Bantams drew a blank against the Lions at the New Den, but Parkinson was pleased with the way his players performed.

“It was a hard game but we always knew it would be,” said Parkinson. “We had to stand up and be counted as a group, and I thought we were terrific.

“This is a proper old-fashioned Millwall team at the moment and the crowd are really up for it. But we came into the Lions’ den and came away with a fully deserved point. It is a clean sheet for us and an away point. We have to give the lads great credit. Everything we asked of them, they did.”

The Lions, who beat Doncaster on Tuesday night, moved up to seventh while the Bantams are 14th, having stretched their recent unbeaten run to four games.

Lee Gregory went close for the hosts with a powerful drive which flew inches over, but City striker Devante Cole had a decent penalty appeal turned down.

Goalkeeper Ben Williams produced a fine save to thwart Shaun Williams from close-range, but that was as about as good as it got.

“Ben Williams didn’t have too much to do in the game but his save in the second half was top quality,” reflected Parkinson.

“Millwall have some positive attacking players, but I thought we were faultless at the back.

“Our final ball probably wasn’t of the quality we needed but there were so many good things out there and it sets us up for Tuesday night (v Blackpool).”
