Parkinson calls for patience over Bradford’s Cole

BRADFORD CITY boss Phil Parkinson is calling on fans not to expect too much too soon from striker Devante Cole - despite his last-gasp winner against Port Vale last weekend.

The former Manchester City frontman, son of ex-Manchester United, Newcastle United and England forward Andy, enjoyed a dream debut after coming on as a substitute against Vale and is pushing for a start in tomorrow’s Roses clash at Oldham.

Parkinson said: “I don’t think we should get too carried away with Devante being the son of Andy Cole because he is a player in his own right and a young man.

“It is unfair to have expectations because of what your dad has done.

“He has got to prove himself and he has done last year where he was at Barnsley (on loan) and did it really well.

“We know he can do it and he came off the bench last week and looked sharp.”

City are set to be boosted by the availability of loan defender Reece Burke, who is expected to be able to feature for tomorrow’s Boundary Park trip despite being called up to the England U20 squad, with the young Lions playing on Monday.

Lee Evans is on international duty with Wales and is unavailable.
