‘Plenty more to come’ from Bradford City, says Elliott Watt

Bradford City midfielder Elliott Watt believes the Bantams will improve in 2021 after picking up 10 points from a possible 12 under caretaker managers Mark Trueman and Conor Sellars.

City won for the third time in a row after beating Tranmere 1-0 at Prenton Park, Lee Novak’s second-half goal proving the difference.

Former Bradford striker James Vaughan set up a great chance for the hosts to score after seven minutes.

His flick-on caused confusion in the defence, allowing Corey Blackett-Taylor to poke the loose ball past goalkeeper Richard O’Donnell but wide of the post.

O’Donnell was also called upon to deal with shots from Calum MacDonald and Danny Lloyd as Tranmere applied the pressure.

Novak jabbed wide from Billy Clarke’s cross for Bradford while Gareth Evans was denied by goalkeeper Scott Davies early in the second half before Bradford took the lead after 62 minutes.

Levi Sutton made a run to the line and crossed for Novak to head his seventh goal of the season. O’Donnell denied Vaughan an equaliser with a diving stop 12 minutes from time.

Watt, 20, said: “Of course, we were delighted with the win.

“It has been an excellent couple of weeks for us, in terms of results, and to treat the supporters to another three points tops it off.

“Despite this current run of results, we know we can perform better. There is plenty more to come from this team and, if we can keep building, who knows where it will take us?”
