Port Vale v Bradford City: Parkinson impressed by Bradford’s spirit

PHIL Parkinson insists there is “plenty to build on” after two games in charge of Bradford City.

The 43-year-old was appointed as successor to Peter Jackson a little over two weeks ago and since then has overseen two draws.

In both games against Morecambe and Bristol Rovers, City rescued a point in the final minute.

Parkinson said: “I have been pleased with what I have seen so far and there is plenty to build on.

“We are an improving side and a new side that has only just been put together. Plus, I brought a couple of new faces in last week so it will take time for things to gel.

“The team is getting there and they are a good, honest set of lads. I think their character has also been shown in our last two games when they have kept going to the end.

“I am enjoying the job. There is a lot of work to do but there are a lot of good people at this club who put a lot of effort and time in to getting Bradford City back to where it should be. It is a good club.”

Following Saturday’s draw against Bristol Rovers, Parkinson said he hoped to resurrect a deal for a mystery striker that had broken down over problems with the medical.

As of last night, however, no progress had been made meaning City are likely to head to Port Vale with the same squad that was on duty against the Pirates.

Parkinson added: “Port Vale will be tough opponents but I would like to think that Micky Adams will be seeing us as tough opponents and point out our strengths to his players.”

Last six games: Port Vale DWLDLW, Bradford City LLWDDD.
