Midfielder Gareth Evans bagged a brilliant face, his first league goals for over a year, with Danny Rowe also on target with his first goal for the club.

And that means the buoyant Bantams are now unbeaten in their last seven games since interim management duo Mark Trueman and Conor Sellars took charge, a first away win over the Shrimpers for four years well-deserved.

Evans bagged his first league goal since January 1 last year, firing home a rebound after Callum Cooke’s initial shot was parried by Mark Oxley.

Elvis Bwomono levelled for the hosts just eight minutes later with a clinical strike.

But Rowe restored the Bantams’ advantage with a sweet right-foot strike after being teed up by Cooke.

And Evans made it a night to remember when he doubled with a powerful left-foot strike that Oxley had no answer too.

Evans’s first goal, a close-range strike, was also his first since joining the Bantams from Portsmouth – and gave the visitors the perfect start after Rowe had earlier rifled wide and Anthony O’Conner had gone close with a header.
