Swift response from City demands boss Parkinson

The Bantams lost their 100 per cent winning record at Valley Parade courtesy of a 1-0 triumph for Port Vale on Saturday.

Even Vale manager Micky Adams admitted his side were fortunate to leave with all three points.

Parkinson, however, is adamant that the good performance against the team from the Potteries counts for little ahead of tonight’s trip across the Pennines

He said: “Port Vale was one of those games where you look back on it with disbelief that we didn’t get anything.

“It was a blow.

“But the key now is not to feel sorry for ourselves.

“We have to go to Rochdale and get back on track, which I am confident the players can do,” he said.

Tonight’s game will be an emotional affair for City midfielder Gary Jones, who moved to Valley Parade after spending nine years playing at Spotland.

The hosts will be on something of a high after becoming the first team to beat leaders Gillingham courtesy of Saturday’s 2-1 win at Priestfield.

Parkinson added: “Gary has done really well for us and this will be a big night for him.

“A very talented footballer who has a huge desire to succeed.

“His age (35) is irrelevant because he is so fit and we are glad to have him,” added Parkinson.

“As for Rochdale, they will be very confident after a great result at the weekend.”
