Brandon follows Thorne out of Bantams exit door

PETER TAYLOR'S Bradford City revolution continued yesterday as Chris Brandon became the third player to leave inside a week.

The former Huddersfield Town midfielder has followed Peter Thorne and Michael Boulding through the Valley Parade exit after agreeing a pay-off for the remaining few months of his contract.

It brings to an end a frustrating couple of years for Brandon, who was signed on a free transfer from the Terriers in the summer of 2008 by Stuart McCall.

Explaining the thinking behind the move, Taylor said: "I just felt Chris was another one who was going to be out of contract and unlikely to play much between now and the end of the season.

"I put it to him and, to be fair to Chris, he accepted the situation.

"I like to be honest with players and I think he appreciated that. I wanted to get a few players in, which I have. And that meant that others were unlikely to play so I felt it best they leave."

Bradford-born Brandon made just 18 starts in the league after last season was wrecked by ankle injuries.

His last appearance for City came in Taylor's first game, the 2-0 defeat at Accrington Stanley on February 20.

Brandon, who started his career at Bradford Park Avenue, is not permitted to play for another League or Conference side this season. He can, however, play below that level if he wants.
