Bristol City v Hull City - George Honeyman looks to increase the gap

George Honeyman says that Hull City head to managerless Bristol City tonight confident of securing a result which can lift them clear of the Championship drop-zone.

The Tigers were unable to follow up a point at Birmingham and a home victory over Middlesbrough when they visited West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, eventually going down 4-2 to the title-chasing Baggies.

Defeat left City just one place above the bottom three, but they created enough chances to have won the game and Honeyman believes that if they can replicate that level of performance in the West Country, then they won’t go far wrong.

“There’s a good feeling in the camp going into the game against Bristol City and, if we can maintain our recent performance levels, we’ll only climb higher in the table,” the 25-year-old midfielder said.

“The pleasing thing from the last few games – against Birmingham, Middlesbrough and West Brom – is that we’ve looked capable of winning all three. Against West Brom, we could’ve actually scored five or six, which is no mean feat against a side challenging for automatic promotion.

“We’re going into games with a real belief now and feeling like we’re going to pick up points and win games, which is massive.

“If we can keep showing our quality in the final third then we’ll give ourselves a chance of winning every game we play.”

Hull’s loss at West Brom means that they have won just once in 15 games, though Bristol are winless in nine, a run of form which led to the departure of Lee Johnson.
