Burton Albion v Rotherham United: Rotherham expecting Cresswell to face Burton

ROTHERHAM United captain Ryan Cresswell is set to return from compassionate leave in tonight's Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at Burton.

The defender, who grew up in Rotherham, missed Saturday's game against Bury following the death of his grandfather but returned to training yesterday morning.

Manager Ronnie Moore said: "He is going through a bad time but we have had a word and he thinks he is probably better playing than sat around thinking about what's going on.

"People handle grief in different ways and it is whatever is best for him," added Moore.

"I would imagine he will want to play. He is big and strong, and his grandfather was a mad (keen) Rotherham United supporter."

The Millers drew 3-3 with Burton in the league last month and Moore insists that his side will be looking to go as far as possible in this season's

JP Trophy.

Both clubs, however, are set to make changes in goal with Andy Warrington rested for the Millers and injury to Adam Legzdins opening the door for Burton's goalkeeping coach Kevin Poole to play again at the age of 47. Legzdins has dislocated a finger.

Born in Bromsgrove, Poole turned professional with Aston Villa in 1981 and has played for nine different clubs, including Middlesbrough, during a 29-year career.

"I will jump into the game and go and enjoy it," said Poole.

Jose Mourinho has said he was desperate to serve as stand-in Portugal coach but understands Real Madrid's decision not to free him for the role.

Mourinho was the top choice to take charge of his national side for the forthcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers against Denmark and Portugal after Carlos Queiroz was sacked but eventually admitted defeat due to his club commitments.
