Carlisle United v Huddersfield Town: Opening day forgotten as Clark eyes Carlisle

LEE CLARK has told his Huddersfield Town side to forget all about the win that has put them top of the fledgling League One table.

The Terriers claimed the outstanding result of the opening-day in the third tier with a 3-0 win at newly-promoted Notts County. Town's display was a huge tonic for Clark as he looks to ensure there is no hangover from last season's play-off disappointment.

However, the Huddersfield chief is also quick to stress that the win at Meadow Lane will count for little tonight when his men take on Carlisle United in the Carling Cup first round.

Clark said: "The players were really focused in training. They came in in the morning and all eyes are on what has to be done at Carlisle.

"Saturday is now forgotten about. It is history and we have to focus on the next game, because that is what people will now remember.

"We want to put a performance in that follows up what we did on Saturday."

Carlisle, like Huddersfield, started the season with a win, Gregg Abbott's side beating Brentford at Brunton Park.

Clark added: "Both teams will be on a high so it has the potential to be a great game."
