Carlisle United v Leeds United - League One - 'Magnificent Seven' is our aim – Collins

NEILL COLLINS believes Leeds United can maintain their push for the 'Magnificent Seven' by silencing thousands of fired-up Cumbrians tonight.

The Elland Road club travel to Carlisle United for their first visit since the stormy Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area final between the two clubs in February.

After his side's exit on penalties, United manager Simon Grayson alleged three of his players had been struck during a pitch invasion by the home fans.

A subsequent suggestion by Leeds chairman Ken Bates that tonight's League One meeting should be played behind closed doors did not go down well at Brunton Park and the visitors seem certain to receive a raucous welcome.

Collins, however, insists United will not be fazed as they look to continue a winning run that Grayson hopes will stand at seven come the end of the season.

The Scottish defender said: "I have only played at Carlisle in pre-season but am under no illusions it will be tough.

"If we win all our remaining games, we will be promoted and we think we can do it. Confidence is up and we believe we can do it (win automatic promotion)."

With Millwall travelling to Yeovil Town, tonight could be significant in terms of the race for second place behind runaway leaders Norwich City.

Grayson has one major decision to make over Jermaine Beckford with the Leeds top scorer's performances in the past few weeks hardly warranting a place in the side.

Dropping a striker with 27 goals to his name is, however, extremely risky and much could depend on how Luciano Becchio has shaped up in training.

Grayson's side may have been knocked out of the Trophy at Brunton Park two months ago but they did win the second leg 3-2. Asked what his response to Carlisle remaining unpunished following the alleged attack on his players, the Leeds manager said: "I made my comments clear after the game and left it to other people.

"I have had other concerns. It is up to the authorities. All we can do is point things out and if nothing happens, then so be it. But hopefully they will learn from it."

On the game, Grayson added: "I would take the same result as February because we beat them. It is a difficult place to go because they are a good team."

Only Bradley Johnson is unavailable for tonight's game as he starts a two-game ban for picking up a 10th booking of the season against Southend United.

Max Gradel has recovered from the cut that saw the wideman face the Shrimpers with a heavily bandaged head.
