Ward is yet to feature in the league for Town after re-joining the club in the summer due to a hamstring injury, with his sole appearance coming in the EFL Cup tie with Rochdale.

Now finally in the reckoning, Ward's availabilty comes at an opportune moment for Town, who face a tough trip to Stoke City on Saturday.

Offering an update on Ward, Corberan said: "The development of the process to make him ready to play with the team has been positive.

"He was playing in the last B team game for 45 minutes with the B team players and he is making the right adaptations to play a number of times and he has been a normal part of the squad in training and this has been a positive thing.

"The higher number of training (sessions) he has, the better it is for him to get the normal feeling to be a striker for the team."

On whether Ward will offer something different to existing targetman Fraizer Campbell, the Spaniard observed: "Both players have differences, but at the same time, they are similar.

"The best thing about having Danny Ward in the squad now is that we don't have to use (Josh) Koroma as a striker.

"We can be more focused on having Koroma more as a winger now rather than partly as a striker

"Both Ward and Campbell are number nines but can help the team playing out too. They both feel comfortable in any part of the pitch."
