Chesterfield 1 Bradford City 1: Daley sees red against Spireites

TEN-MAN Bradford City continued their recent improvement by stretching their unbeaten run to four games against a Chesterfield team desperate for points to maintain their fading challenge for a place in the promotion play-offs.

They fought back from behind to take a point, despite having second-half substitute Omar Daley sent off just nine minutes after entering the action.

It was a performance that pleased manager Peter Taylor, who is expected to sign a contract confirming him in the job later this week.

"We weren't troubled too much but in the second half they scored what was a very poor goal for us," said Taylor. "We went down to 10 men but we still kept fighting and it was an excellent draw in the end."

With Matt Clarke and Steve Williams outstanding at the back, Bradford more than held their own in the opening period and had the better chances.

But Chesterfield took the lead when Jack Lester's flick caused confusion in the Bantams' defence and Ishmel Demontagnac, on loan from Blackpool, worked himself free to slot home on 52 minutes.

Daley's 71st minute dismissal – for an off-the-ball incident – seemed to have put an end to Bradford's hopes but Evans scored a deserved leveller just four minutes later.

A quick throw from Michael Flynn caught Chesterfield napping and Evans got away from Paul Picken to fire home under goalkeeper Tommy Lee.
