Conor Sellars say Bradford City out to 'right the wrongs' after interim managers suffer first defeat

After nine matches in temporary charge, Seallars and Mark Trueman finally tasted defeat on Saturday, losing 3-2 at Exeter City. Now they have set to work on righting those wrongs.

If the weather allows, the players will have a quick chance to respond at Scunthorpe United on Tuesday night.

“We said a few games in things could quickly change and now we're nine games in so it's a challenge to see how we respond as players and staff,” said Sellars.

“It was disappointing, being in the lead twice as well. Mark summed it up, the key moments we just didn't handle well enough and that prevented us getting a positive result.

“We've got to right the wrongs. That's something we've explained to the players.

“I think lack of concentration would be one (factor). Things happen quickly on a football pitch and let's not get it wrong, some of (Exeter's) play and their attacking threats was very good. They capitalised on the day.

“(In our post-match analysis) we were going back to what gave us success in games before and just reinforcing messages we potentially came a little bit away from which happens when you've got new players and different people in different positions and players missing out. We just had to reiterate what kind of team we are and how we can play to our strengths.

“We've got a lot of clips and analysis of how we want players to perform in certain positions. We've been coaching for years now and we try to understand how players best learn. You've got to be creative.

“New players come in and they're at different stages. Some players are eight weeks into how we're how we play and we've got others coming in who have never played under us and we're different to what we've had before.

“We have individual meetings with these players and get the lads who know what we want to reinforce those messages.”

Danny Rowe is back from illness and was part of another clean sweep of negative Covid-19 tests in the squad, while returns for Andy Cook and Gareth Evans are “in the pipeline”, according to Sellars, but Billy Clarke will not make the short trip because of a muscle injury.
