Dagenham & Redbridge 0 Rotherham United 1: Le Fondre nets for Millers

Perked up by changes both preferred and enforced, Rotherham profited on their travels.

This was their 10th away win, an excellent success rate but in view of their faltering home form, one much-needed if they are to realise their promotion ambitions. The match-winner yet again was Adam Le Fondre and this was his 26th goal of a prolific season.

In typical goal-poaching fashion, he was on the spot after an effort from newcomer Craig McAllister rebounded off goalkeeper Tony Roberts with an hour played.

"He just loves scoring goals but I thought his all-round game was better today and he worked hard for the team," said Rotherham manager Ronnie Moore. "It was an excellent performance overall and a smashing three points. At the end, we defended well under some pressure."

Le Fondre linked well with new strike partner McAllister, making his debut after joining on loan from Exeter. He only met the squad at a training session in London the day before as did another loan signing, 18-year-old winger Abdoulai Bell-Baggie, from Reading, who was on the bench. There was a first start for Marcus Marshall, the young on-loan winger from Blackburn Rovers. Having appeared as a substitute several times, he came in for the injured Nicky Law who may not get his place back straight away.

In a tight game, Rotherham were only troubled by Dagenham's late push, during which Phil Walsh headed their best chance over the bar.

Dagenham & Redbridge: Roberts; Ogogo, Doe, Arber, McCrory; Green, Folly, Montgomery (Currie 57), Pack (Walsh 75). Unused substitutes: Lewington, Uddin, Nurse, Vincelot, Bingham.
