The 24-year-old, a key part of the Bees’ promotion push last term, was expected to seal the move north yesterday but essential work on the electrics at Griffin Park meant the offices had to be closed.

Another Yorkshire club hoping to get a deal done with Brentford are Hull City.

The Tigers expect to bring in Moses Odubajo after agreeing a £3.5m fee for the full-back.

A season-long loan deal to bring Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom north is also in place to hand manager Steve Bruce, whose side host Huddersfield Town on Saturday, a major lift following last week’s double capture of Sam Clucas and Ryan Taylor.

League Two outfit York City have signed Frickley Athletic striker Reece Thompson on a two-year deal.

The Minstermen have paid an undisclosed fee for the 21-year-old, who netted a spectacular strike in the recent 2-1 victory over Newcastle United at Bootham Crescent.

Thompson scored 16 times in 32 appearances for Frickley last term in the Evo-Stick League.

York have included an option to extend the forward’s stay by 12 months.
