League Two outfit York City have signed Frickley Athletic striker Reece Thompson on a two-year deal.

The Minstermen have paid an undisclosed fee for the 21-year-old, who netted a spectacular strike in the recent 2-1 victory over Newcastle United at Bootham Crescent.

Thompson scored 16 times in 32 appearances for Frickley last term in the Evo-Stick League.

York have included an option to extend the forward’s stay by 12 months.
