Dominic Ball believes Rotherham can progress thanks to Kenny Jackett's clarity

Results-wise, at least, the club’s fortunes may not have changed much following the arrival of Jackett, but utility man Ball feels that the ‘back-to-basics’ message being conveyed by the new Millers chief has at least provided a touch of clarity.

He said: “It is more clear, that this is exactly how we are going to do things now, this is how we are going to win games (and) this is how we are not going to concede as many goals.

“Before, not everyone actually knew exactly what he (Stubbs) wanted. That was the problem.

“Now, with the new manager, it is very clear and simple – that this is your job and if you do this, you will stay in the team and we will win games. There is no confusion. He has has come in and said, ‘let’s get back to basics, this is how I want you to do things’.

Jackett has revealed that defender Kirk Broadfoot is no nearer to a return to action, with his back condition continuing to prove troublesome.

Millers’ manager said: “It is a little bit of a mystery exactly where it is.

“He is slightly frustrated himself with the injury.

“But the medical team are working as working as hard as they possibly can to get him back.

“There isn’t a timescale. It’s not something the medical team can give us. His treatment is an ongoing process and hopefully the medical team can get to the bottom of it.”

Tom Adeyemi and Kelvin Wilson will be fit for tomorrow’s trip to Derby.

Jackett is also hoping that Lee Frecklington will be available for the match.
