Tyson pounced in the ‘92nd’ minute just as it looked as though Chris Humphrey’s 66th-minute goal had won it for Preston.

Josh Brownhill went close to giving Simon Grayson’s side the lead, but his left-footed strike flew inches wide.

The home side – who lost Rob Jones to injury – then sprung into life when midfielder James Coppinger fired over and Kyle Bennett had a shot charged down.

Goalkeeper Jed Steer thwarted Lilywhites’ Joe Garner from close-range before Coppinger missed two chances in the space of six minutes.

Tom Clarke went close for Preston three minutes after the restart when he fired wide, and at the other end Bennett lashed an effort over the bar.

Jamaican midfielder Humphrey broke the deadlock shortly after the hour mark, crashing home from 25 yards after Rovers failed to clear a free-kick.
