Doncaster Rovers returned to winning ways as they downed promotion chasing Wycombe Wanderers at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Rovers were beaten by Gillingham and Shrewsbury Town in their last two games but ran out comfortable winners over a side still harbouring automatic promotion hopes.

Niall Ennis put the home side ahead on the stroke of half time when he showed brilliant footwork to skip past a couple of challenges before firing across goal into the far corner from close range.

Tom Anderson rose to meet a Danny Amos corner and power a header on goal which was kept out by a combination of Ryan Allsop and one of his defenders as the hosts went in search of a second.

Adebayo Akinfenwa hit back for Wycombe as he slotted home form 12 yards on 67 minutes.

But it only took four minutes for Doncaster to regain the advantage when Ben Whiteman curled in a deep free kick and Kieran Sadlier was there to slot home.

With seven minutes reamaining, Rovers had some breathing space as Jason McCarthy put the ball into his own net from Jason Lokilo's delivery.

The result leaves Rovers in 10th spot, six points from the play-off places.
