The 6ft 4in goalkeeper, 22, who spent previous loan spells at Bury and Barnet, will go straight into the squad to face one of his old clubs in Barnet tomorrow.

On moving to Rovers, Lawlor, who will compete with Ross Etheridge with Marko Marosi out for three months with an ankle injury, said: “I’m delighted to be here, I’m looking forward to progressing and getting involved with the lads.

“It’s nice to have the feeling that they want me to come in on a permanent basis. But there is nothing guaranteed in football, so I’m ready for a battle.

“I’ll work hard every day and, if selected come the weekend, will give everything I have.”
