Doncaster Rovers v Carlisel United: Home improvements required from Rovers, inists Darren Ferguson

After wrestling with the problematic issue of home form this calendar year, Rovers are showing welcome signs of getting their act together – and are chasing a fourth successive home league win for the first time since February 2015 this evening.

But while Ferguson remains pleased with the newly-found consistency in front of home fans, he is not wholly satisfied.

Ferguson, whose side are unbeaten in seven matches at home in the league, said: “I think the players are aware that we must make this a difficult place for the opposition.

“We want to play with a real energy and aggression.

“I still do not think we have performed to anywhere near the level we can and I think we have performed better away.

“We have had periods where we have been dominant, but not for an entire game (at home). I am looking for a better and a more controlled performance, especially with the ball.”

Alongside Bradford City, Carlisle are the only EFL side who are still unbeaten in the league this season and Ferguson duly acknowledges the threat from the Cumbrians.

Ferguson, seeking a response from his fourth-placed side following the weekend loss at Luton, added: “They have played about five different formations in their last five games and have real rotations in their formations.

“They are a really good footballing team and it will be a tough game.”
