Andy Butler - has stand-in manager been picked for Doncaster Rovers v Wolves?

Andy Butler takes charge of his second game as Doncaster Rovers’ temporary manager tomorrow night - but he is not revealing yet if he has been picked in the team.

The 37-year-old defender stood in for Darren Moore in the Rovers dugout on Saturday with the club’s permanent manager self-isolating due to Covid-19.

Butler promptly oversaw a 5-1 win over FC United of Manchester in the FA Cup first round, and then admitted Tuesday night’s game with Wolverhampton Wanderers Under-21s in the Papa John’s Trophy would ordinarily be a game he would have been considered to play in.

However, addressing the media on Monday ahead of that game, Butler was coy about whether he will figure or not.

“Whatever way it goes I’m more than happy to help,” said Butler, having already had the team from Moore, who he remains in regular contact with.

“We’re going there with a strong squad but that’s what you’d expect with the players we’ve got.

“Whatever team we put out, I’m sure we’ll get a performance and a positive result.”

For the rest of the Rovers team news, Butler revealed: “Jon Taylor could have played, but he’s got 10 days rest after this with no game this Saturday so it’s not worth risking him for a Papa John’s Trophy game.

“He’ll be rested and have a few extra days to recover.

“There’s no Madger Gomes either, he’s not far way though.

“Taylor Richards could be involved. He’s trained now for a few days.”

Danny Amos is available before he heads off on international duty.
