Burton Albion 3 Doncaster Rovers 3: Rovers denied by Duffy in Burton classic

DONCASTER ROVERS were denied victory by Mark Duffy’s 89th-minute leveller in a thrilling 3-3 League One draw at Nigel Clough’s Burton Albion.

Clough was overseeing his first home game in charge since succeeding Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink but saw Rovers take a fourth-minute lead through Andy Williams.

But Callum Butcher then turned the game on its head by first equalising to make it all square 14 minutes later before putting Burton ahead a minute after the hour.

Rovers then looked to have pulled off an amazing comeback of their own when Paul Keegan made it 2-2 with 20 minutes left before Nathan Tyson’s 83rd-minute penalty put Darren Ferguson’s side ahead.

But a rollercoaster ride of a game was to finish all square after Duffy’s leveller one minute from time.

“Unfortunately we lost a late goal which cost us two points,” said Rovers boss Ferguson.

“But I feel we were lucky to get one, never mind three with the way the game went.

“If you look at the context of the game over the 94 minutes then it’s a good point.

“But if you look at it that you’re ahead in the last few minutes, it’s two points dropped.

“I feel we didn’t deserve anything more than a point.”
