Rovers fans should get their first glimpse of Ikpeazu today at the Proact Stadium, where the visitors will be roared on by a big following as they seek to put the squeeze on those teams in the final few play-off places.

Those include fifth-placed Spireites, whom Rovers – with a game in hand – can draw level with if they win this afternoon.

Ikpeazu, behind Troy Deeney, Odion Ighalo, Matej Vydra and Fernando Forestieri in the pecking order at Vicarage Road, said: “The chance of promotion was one of the reasons I came here.

“Obviously they were in the Championship and got relegated last season but they’re only two points off the play-offs with a few games in hand and I believe now that I’m here I can help push for promotion.”

On what he can offer a Rovers line-up whose three central strikers have mustered just 13 league goals between them this season, he added: “I’m powerful and quite quick and I score goals. As a striker, you want to score goals.”
