Doncaster Rovers beat Coventry City to keep alive their League One survival hopes alive.
Darren Ferguson’s Rovers could have been relegated with defeat, but goals from Tommy Rowe and Andy Williams keeps them in touch with fifth-from-bottom Fleetwood.
They are three points behind with two games remaining and next week play already-relegated Crewe, before finishing off against Burton Albion.
Rowe headed in Gary McSheffrey’s corner on 21 minutes to hand Rovers a lifeline.
On 32 minutes, Williams got his head to Nathan Tyson’s cross to give the hosts some breathing space.
“It was a very good performance,” said Ferguson. “From the moment we went ahead we were quite relentless in what we did.
“We thoroughly deserved the win. We’ve just got to maintain it now against Crewe and Burton.
“As a team we’ve got a bit of momentum now. You can see the belief.
“We can still catch four teams.
“If we lose to Crewe it’s over. If we lose to Burton it’s over. We’ve got to focus on winning those games.”
