Doncaster on lookout for new defender

DONCASTER ROVERS manager Paul Dickov has confirmed he is on the look-out for a new loan defender, with Gabriel Tamas expected to be out for four to six weeks with a fractured cheekbone.

The former Romanian international defender is believed to have sustained the injury in an alleged incident in a bar in Doncaster town centre at the weekend, with the club currently investigating.

Rovers a short statement last night, saying: “We’re working with Gabby to understand the circumstances surrounding an alleged incident.”

Manager Paul Dickov, whose side have pulled away from the Championship relegation zone following back-to-back league wins for the first time this term, said this morning: “We are speaking to Gabby to find out what happened. Until we get to the bottom of it, we can’t really see anything else really.”

“We’re trying to bring someone (a new player) in, but it’s difficult.”

On his side’s much-needed back-to-back wins over Watford and Huddersfield Town, the Rovers chief added: “I am delighted to get the six points out of the two games. It’s what we wanted. I was pleased in the manner we did it on Tuesday as the boys kept going until the end.”
