A goal after 109 seconds from Jay Simpson and a 62nd-minute strike from Darius Henderson condemned Rovers to a second successive league defeat.

Dickov had made two changes to his side which was beaten 3-1 at Fleetwood Town on Saturday.

Liam Wakefield replaced Cedric Evina and Dean Furman started in place of Paul Keegan as Rovers looked to get back on track. But the hosts had the worst possible started despite fresh legs in their starting line-up.

Simpson took advantage of some sleepy defending to give the visitors the perfect start before former Sheffield United marksman Henderson netted his fifth goal of the season, shortly after the hour mark, to make sure of maximum points at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The home side were left frustrated at having had a decent shout for a penalty turned down when Orient’s Scott Cuthbert looked to have blocked Nathan Tyson’s shot with his arm on his own goal-line.

Doncaster Rovers: Steer, Wakefield, McCombe (Robinson 84), McCullough, Wabara, de Val (Main 64), Coppinger, Wellens, Furman, Forrester (Bennett 52), Tyson. Unused substitutes: Evina, Marosi, Keegan, Lund.
