Doncaster Rovers 1 Yeovil Town 1: Flynn believes revival has begun for Rovers

Doncaster Rovers manager Brian Flynn was far from disappointed at dropping two home points against their fellow promotion challengers.

“I was pleased with the performance, very pleased with the players both individually and collectively,” said Flynn, of his fourth-placed side, who are a point behind leaders Sheffield United.

“I was pleased for young John Lundstram (debutant), who came in and handled himself really well despite one or two mistakes.

“I’m pleased for Billy Paynter to score after he missed his earlier chance. Paul Quinn was outstanding, and, all round, the revival has started.

“It’s three games undefeated now and although statistics are what you want them to be, I’m very pleased to draw against a really good team.”

Doncaster’s improved display ended Yeovil’s club record eight-match winning run.

Paddy Madden’s 11th goal in eight games gave Yeovil an early lead after goalkeeper Gary Woods palmed a free-kick into the striker’s path.

Rovers levelled when Paynter headed home from a David Cotterill corner just before the interval.

Paynter had missed a sitter moments earlier with a downward header from two yeards which rebounded away off the bar and the striker had seen another shot on the turn turned over the bar,

Centre-back Rob Jones later headed over from six yards and penalty appeals were rejected when David Syers went down in the area.

Six minutes of stoppage time were necessary after Yeovil’s James Hayter was carried off on a stretcher against his old club and, having been outplayed for long periods, a point was a good result for Gary Johnson’s men, who are in fifth place.
