DONCASTER ROVERS manager Darren Moore remains optimistic that football’s governing bodies can come together to support struggling EFL clubs in their hour of need.

After the Government’s decision to bail out the National League to keep clubs afloat and stop several going under, attention has switched to those lower-division clubs who are struggling to make ends meet.

Following the decision to stop the phased return of supporters to games, the situation has reached crisis proportions.

Moore said: “I am sure all those governing bodies will come together to see fit for the game.

“The EFL, Government and the Premier League are in meetings and I am sure all three want football to be sustainable and the clubs to stand on their own two feet.

“From a holistic point of view from clubs to the community, it is really important to address the problem for all the clubs in terms of that longing to get fans back on a regular basis.

“I really enjoyed the atmosphere at Charlton a couple of weeks ago with just one thousand fans in the stadium. There was a real energy and fans were happy to be back and watching competitive football again.

“I was truly gutted we were not able to play in a pilot scheme with our fans in last week’s game with Bristol Rovers to reconnect with them.

“We hope in the weeks and months to come that if everyone plays their part, we can hopefully see some back.”

Meanwhile. Moore says that the decision to immediately send out new signing Charlie Seaman on a season-long loan to Maidstone United will be a vital part of his development.

Seaman, 20, penned a one-year deal with Rovers before heading straight out to the Vanarama National League South outfit with the absence of Under-23 football at Rovers this season prompting the decision to continue the right-back’s education elsewhere.

Rovers do have a recall clause on Seaman, who was released from Bournemouth in July.

Moore said: “As there is no Under-23s football at Rovers this season, this is the kind of deal we need to be able to bring in these types of players. It allows him to keep progressing at the rate he is and we can help develop him into a Rovers player.”

Meanwhile, Moore is plotting moves in the loan market ahead of the transfer deadline and is hoping to add cover at right-back and central midfield.
