Doncaster Rovers v Gillingham - Darren Moore determined not to be distracted by rival Steve Evans

Darren Moore insists that he won’t let the presence of Steve Evans in the opposing dug-out distract him from the task at hand when his Doncaster Rovers side host Gillingham in League One this afternoon.

The Gills chief has a reputation for being one of the most colourful and abrasive managers in the game, though Moore had only positive things to say about the Glaswegian.

“Steve is passionate for the game. He loves the game. He kicks every ball. He’s animated. That’s his way, so we expect that on Saturday, but you wouldn’t want to take that away from him,” he said.

“My thing will be just to keep concentration on us and make sure that we’re trying to do the right things both in and out of possession.”

There will, of course, be no supporters in attendance at the Keepmoat Stadium today and, while he says he can’t wait for Rovers fans to return, Moore admits that he enjoyed the experience of playing in front of spectators in last weekend’s win at Northampton Town.

“We’ve had two games this season at Charlton and Northampton, and while there were no away fans in terms of ourselves, I really have enjoyed both games for the atmosphere,” he added.

“I’ve enjoyed both games, having fans back in almost like a football-type environment.

“Does it cause an advantage? I’d love for Doncaster Rovers fans to be back and to have them cheering and roaring the team on, but at the end of the day, we’re in tier three, so there’s nothing we can do about it.

“Obviously, when we go south, there’s 1,000-2,000 fans and we’ve just got to get on with it.”
