Forrester glad to see replacements excel

DONCASTER ROVERS striker Harry Forrester admits it is down to him to prove he is worth another crack at firing the club back into the Championship.

The 23-year-old had spent the last two games on the bench ahead of this afternoon’s trip to Crewe following a frustrating lean spell in front of goal.

After an injury-ravaged last campaign, he has scored just once in the last 14 games with manager Paul Dickov eventually changing tack.

Doncaster won both those matches and Forrester, red-carded twice in three games earlier this season, says he cannot argue with the manager’s choice.

“It’s been a rollercoaster ride so far,” he said, 18 months after joining from Brentford.

“It’s been up and down. I’ve been on the bench the last couple which is never where you want to be. But the boys are doing well and as long as we’re getting a win, that’s all that matters.

“Competition is good. We thrive off that. It’s up to me to get back into it. I’d like to be on the pitch as much as I can and score more goals.

“It will come and I’m not putting any pressure on myself. The boys who have come in have done exceptionally well so that takes a bit of pressure off me anyway as I haven’t got to carve something out of nothing.”

Down in 16th spot, Doncaster are eight points adrift of the play-off places but have a chance to continue their mini-renaissance at bottom-placed Crewe.

Forrester insisted: “They will be good. They are likely to hit us on the counter-attack which is what we’ve been working on.

“But it’s all about us. We have enough in there.

“We’re looking to get back-to-back wins which we haven’t done often enough. If we can get on a run over Christmas there is a lot of games so if we can get some results we will be right up the table.”
