DONCASTER ROVERS missed an opportunity to go top of League One - their 2-1 loss at home to in-form Walsall being mirrored by a defeat by the same scoreline by leaders Tranmere Rovers at Leyton Orient.

Walsall were first to scores in the Football LEague today, when captain Andy Butler headed home from close range to stun the home supporters after just 72 seconds.

But Rovers levelled in the 16th minute when Billy Paynter was in the right place at the right time to fire home his eighth goal of the campaign.

But the telling blow came in the 81st minute when Febian Brandy struck to ensure that the impressive Saddlers stay in touch with the play-off pack.
