Doncaster have battled to a 0-0 draw at promotion-chasing Nottingham Forest.

Rovers’ goalkeeper Gary Woods parried a stinging shot from Radoslaw Majewski as Forest pushed for an opener.

Woods produced a brilliant save to keep Robert Earnshaw’s sweetly-struck volley out and resolute Rovers ensured Forest endured a sixth game without a win.

With results elsewhere in the Championship going in their favour, Forest did not lose ground on their play-off rivals but Billy Davies’ side have lost the momentum which took them to second place in the Championship three weeks ago.

Doncaster, meanwhile, sit comfortably mid-table, 10 points off the relegation zone.

The visitors started on the front foot at the City Ground, with James Hayter’s confident midfield play creating numerous early chances.

After 12 minutes, Franck Moussa tried his luck with a shot from distance which whizzed over the crossbar.

Mark Wilson then showed great technique as he blasted a left-footed shot towards goal but the ball failed to dip in time and sailed over the bar.

In a spell of sustained pressure from the home team Cohen was unlucky not to break the deadlock after his shot struck Martis and captain Paul McKenna should have done better from outside the box but his shot bobbled wide.

Majewski’s drive prompted evasive action from Woods as Forest continued to to for a breakthrough.

Luke Chambers then drew a strong block from George Friend as Forest began to grow in confidence with the hour-mark approaching.

But when winger Gareth McCleary had best chance of the afternoon he lingered in possession after receiving the ball in the box and ended up clipping the it wastefully to Friend.
