Millers get plum draw at Villa to the delight of Evans

The League One outfit beat Wednesday on Tuesday night thanks to goals from Ben Pringle and Lee Frecklington and will travel to Villa Park later this month for a second-round tie.

A delighted Millers manager Steve Evans said: “It is a fantastic draw for the club.

“We really wanted a Premier League side and that is just what we have got.

“Aston Villa are a great club, which is steeped in history and I am really looking forward to seeing a man I know very well, a fellow Glaswegian in Paul Lambert.

“It is a few weeks away yet, but I am sure it is a game that the supporters are already looking forward to.

“I am sure that whatever the result it will be a great night for them.

“What I do know for certain is that whatever the ticket allocation is, the Millers fans will travel in big numbers and make plenty of noise.”

Premier League new boys Hull City travel to Leyton Orient, their third Cup meeting of 2013, after being taken to a replay in the FA Cup third round in January last season.

Barnsley welcome Premier League side Southampton to Oakwell while Huddersfield Town host Charlton Athletic, with all games to be played week commencing Sunday, August 25.

Liverpool, meanwhile, play host to the oldest football club in the world, Notts County, while city rivals Everton welcome Stevenage.

West Brom host League Two newcomers Newport.

Premier League newcomers Cardiff – runners-up at Wembley in 2012 – face a trip to Accrington after James Beattie’s side stunned Middlesbrough in the first round.

West Ham welcome Cheltenham to Upton Park while Alan Pardew’s Newcastle cross the country to meet Morecambe as Fulham venture to Burton.

Top-flight contenders Sunderland, Norwich and Stoke have respective home games against MK Dons, Bury and Walsall as Crystal Palace go west to Bristol City.
