Millwall 1 Doncaster Rovers 0: Injuries take their toll on Rovers as Millwall pinch points with late strike

Doncaster manager Sean O’Driscoll felt a draw would have been a fair result for his injury-hit side, while Millwall manager Kenny Jackett was pleased with the result rather than the performance.

The game looked to be heading for a draw until substitute Kevin Lisbie snatched the points for Millwall with a stoppage-time winner.

O’Driscoll said: “I didn’t think either side deserved to win it. Poor conditions, poor game, difficult pitch.

“You can point to things we can do better but it’s an unforgiving league and we’ve come with another patched-up side and we just wanted not to give them anything because if you go one down here, it is difficult to break them down.

“We’ve been shipping goals left, right and centre so to keep a clean sheet against Burnley and to restrict Millwall is obviously a positive and when you lose in the last minute, you need to find the positives.

“We missed James Hayter and James Coppinger today, especially away from home when we’re trying to create stuff.

“We battled away and tried to play the percentages, which is unfortunate because it doesn’t make for a good spectacle but we’re in a league which is so demanding and you look at our bench and we only had six subs.

“We’re never going to have the biggest squad but when you have four or five injuries to key people then it becomes difficult to manage, especially for us.”

Jackett said: “I know how Doncaster feel because I felt it in the week at Norwich so I know it hurts. The first half was 50-50, I thought we dominated possession in the second half without creating any clear-cut chances but it’s a fantastic result.”
