DONCASTER Rovers’ manager Paul Dickov was left frustrated his side missed the chance to register their first away win against Peterborough for nearly 24 years.

Rovers last beat Posh at London Road back on January 27, 1990 with a 2-1 victory.

Dickov’s battling side passed up the opportunity both to end that run and make it three successive victories.

“We could have been better with the ball, but the pitch cut up badly and that didn’t help either side, unfortunately,” reflected Dickov. “But I think a draw is a fair result.

“We’ve had three clean sheets in a row, which is pleasing, And it’s also something to build on. It says something we’re disappointed not to have taken nine points from nine in our last three games.

“We both created a lot of pressure and we’ve kept three clean sheets and that’s very pleasing.

“I’m delighted to have got a point, but if I was slightly greedy I’m disappointed not to have got all three.”

Harry Forrester and Dean Furman both had good opportunities for the visitors, but Aaron Mclean had a shot saved as Posh threatened at the other end.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson was relieved his stuttering side ended a run of four successive home defeats. But the hosts have now won just one of their last eight games and have not won at home since they beat Barnsley 2-1 on October 18. Ferguson said: “I’m not making excuses but we’ve had a lot of injuries, but we need more wins and need more points.”
