Quinn is planning to be commanding voice

PAUL QUINN will be on the case of his Doncaster Rovers defensive colleagues at QPR today – and he is making no apologies for that.

The Scot assumed senior status in the heart of a youthful back four against Millwall, with his vocal and organisational presence helping to yield a craved-for clean sheet after the concession of 12 goals in their previous four matches, each ending in defeat.

With Rovers’ first-choice backline set to be sidelined again at Loftus Road this afternoon, Quinn – who netted a dramatic winner against Rangers in the reverse fixture on November 30 – will again direct operations from the back and it is a role he enjoys.

He said: “The organisation and communication was a bit low-key for the this level of football in the Ipswich game and the manager asked if I could go in there and organise and be a bit more outspoken.

“I enjoyed it, although I believe it will be only be a temporary role.

“We couldn’t afford to lose on Sunday and had to show fans we aren’t going to keep conceding goal after goal. It was about showing grit and determination and everyone did that.

“Another defeat would have been really hard to take going into the new year.”

On QPR, he added: “I think they have the best squad in the league and we need to show the same resolve as we did against Millwall and the same attitude.

“We need to go in with a no-lose attitude and work hard and aim for the clean sheet and see if we can nick something.”

Loan player Yun-Suk Young is ineligible under the terms of his loan, with Enda Stevens set to remain at left-back. Federico Macheda’s second loan spell expires after today’s game.
