The League One club host United tomorrow night in the final game of the Capital One Cup first round.

Dickov’s side started with a 1-1 draw at home to Bury, during which the Scot sportingly allowed the visitors to equalise after a bizarre opener by Harry Middleton.

Tomorrow’s clash at the Keepmoat will pit former Manchester City team-mates, Dickov and Rosler, together as managers.

“I am up against a very good friend in Uwe,” said Dickov, who had a short spell at Elland Road during the club’s promotion season of 2009-10.

“We will have a chat before the game and afterwards. But I will be doing everything I can to beat his team.

“I also know the players are looking forward to testing themselves against a Championship club.”

Dickov hit the headlines around the world over the weekend following his sporting decision to allow Bury to walk in an equaliser after Middleston had inadvertently scored while returning possession to the Shakers from a throw-in.

The Rivers chief added: “It has been a bit embarrassing, with all the attention. But it was the right thing to do. I would like to think all managers would have done the same.

“There has been a lot of coverage for the club and I have had interview requests from some weird and wonderful places.”
