WATCH: Doncaster Rovers close to decision on new deals for players

DONCASTER ROVERS' quintet of out-of-contract players will learn their fate later this week as to whether they will be offered new deals, Darren Ferguson has confirmed.

Club legend James Coppinger, defenders Mathieu Baudry, Craig Alcock and Cedric Evina - with the later having spent this season on loan at Crawley Town - and forward Andy Williams will be informed of the club’s decision before this weekend.

Evina and Williams are widely expected to be leaving the club.

Ferguson, who is to also hold further talks with the club’s board regarding budget plans for next season, said: “All decisions will be made this week and I am not one for dragging it out.

“If I am going into the last week undecided, then I have got a problem. I have made my mind up and I know what I am going to do and know the areas we feel we need to strengthen.”

On further talks with the board in regard to recruitment for next season, he added: “They understand what I feel we need to improve in terms of areas and positions and we will have further chats moving forward. It will be before the weekend.”

Ferguson will freshen up his line-up for Tuesday night’s penultimate League One match of the season at home to AFC Wimbledon - mindful of several players looking tired in Saturday’s draw at Oldham Athletic.
