England planning to rearrange riot-hit friendly against Dutch

The match against Bert van Marwijk’s side was called off last week after three nights of rioting in London.

The FA are keen for the match to be rescheduled and February 29 is the earliest available slot that England can commit to as they may need to take part in a Euro 2012 play-off on November 11 and 15.

It is understood that the Polish FA were keen to host England in a friendly in February to showcase one of the new stadiums they have built for their co-hosting of Euro 2012, but the FA would prefer to play Holland.

It is thought that the Polish FA approached England about the possibility of playing Fabio Capello’s side while the World Cup qualifying draw was taking place in Rio de Janeiro in July.

The FA decided to reject the chance to play the Poles and, although they have not ruled out playing the Euro 2012 co-hosts in the future, it is now considered unlikely. England have been drawn to face Poland in their qualifying campaign for the 2014 World Cup.

Burnley have completed the signing of striker Zavon Hines from Championship rivals West Ham. A fee for the 22-year-old, a product of the Hammers’ youth system, will be set by a tribunal.

The England Under-21 international has agreed a two-year deal at Turf Moor after rejecting the offer of a new contract with the London club.
