Captain Picks

Jamie Vardy (£10.2m) vs Fulham (H)

With eight goals in nine league games and last season’s golden boot, Jamie Vardy continues to be one of the league’s best goalscorers so you’d expect him to do well this weekend when he plays Fulham this week, who have the worst defence in the league.

With Fulham being in the relegation zone for big chances, shots on target and expected goals conceded so far this season, captaining Vardy seems like a no-brainer.

Kevin De Bruyne (£11.6m) vs Burnley (H)

Although Man City have won neither of their last two league games, their home record against Burnley should give them a huge confidence boost ahead of when they meet on Saturday.

Since Guardiola’s arrival, the Sky Blues they have beaten Burnley 24-2 at home, with their three most recent games all finishing 5-0 to City.

With 14 shots in the last four gameweeks, De Bruyne is Man City’s most threatening player and with penalty duties too, he’s definitely a strong captain pick.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.9m) vs Leeds (H)

Similar to Vardy vs Fulham, DCL vs Leeds sees one of the league’s best goalscorers take on a fragile defence.

With ten goals in nine games so far this season including a brace vs Fulham last weekend, Calvert-Lewin is the most in-form striker in the league. Leeds’ defence on the other hand isn’t.

Over the last four gameweeks, only Sheffield United have conceded more big chances and the stats show that their keeper Illan Meslier should be doing better.

The Form Guide - Who’s Hot?

Joao Cancelo (Man City, £5.5m)

Having played every minute of Man City’s last five league games, the Cancelo has nailed down a spot in the starting eleven and created a Portuguese connection with Ruben Dias at the back.

Over the last four gameweeks, City have conceded the league’s fewest attempts on goal and only ten shots in the box so with strugglers Burnley and Fulham up next, Cancelo has a strong chance for clean sheet points.

He has also created the third most chances in the league over the last four gameweeks so could chip in with a few assists too.

Diogo Jota (Liverpool, £6.7m)

Having started on the bench for Liverpool’s midweek Champions League game, Jota should be fit and firing come Saturday to take on Brighton. With three goals in four league games, Jota is in great form but it might be worth noting that all of those goals have come at Anfield. The Portuguese attacker is yet to score away from home for Liverpool in the league but this could definitely change this weekend.

Alex Telles (Man United, £5.5m)

In his first Premier League game, Telles picked up a clean sheet, six points and was a constant attacking threat down Man United’s left-hand side. Last gameweek, Robertson was the only defender to cross more times than the Brazilian and only two defenders took more shots than him. Next two games – Southampton and West Ham.

The Form Guide - Who’s Not?

Lucas Digne (Everton, £6.2m)

After two assists, eight points and a £0.1m price rise, things were looking good for Digne owners until news broke that he picked up an ankle ligament injury in training.

He will have surgery on it on Monday and is expected to be sidelined for quite a while. Being the forth most expensive defender in the game, it’s a good idea to use the money tied up in him and to transfer him out as soon as possible.

Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace, £7.3m)

Having contracted coronavirus, Zaha remains unavailable for selection against Newcastle tonight but could return next week to face West Brom.

Crystal Palace failed to score in his absence next week and since no player has scored more than one goal this season, the same could happen tonight.

Jorginho (Chelsea, £5.1m)

After three goals in his first three league games, Jorginho was becoming a promising fantasy asset, primarily for his strong penalty record.

Since then though, he’s only contributed one assist, Werner has taken over penalty duty and more importantly he’s failed to start in either of Chelsea’s last three league games.

Ones to Watch (Less than 5% ownership)

Tammy Abraham (Chelsea, £7.2m, 2.6%)

Hide Ad
Hide Ad

Playing down the middle in Chelsea’s 4-2-3-1 system, Abraham has started Chelsea’s last three league games and picked up two goals and one assist along the way.

With 15 goals last season, you would think that he would have more owners but with no penalties to take and a quieter personality, he is playing well yet going under the radar

Che Adams (Southampton, £5.9m, 4.9%)

With seven goal involvements in nine games and no competition for his spot up front, Che Adams is criminally under-owned and has somehow dropped in price since the start of the season. With games against Brighton and Sheffield United after Man United this weekend, Che could be a great differential over the coming weeks.

Sergio Aguero (Man City, £10.3m, 1.3%)

Although he’s short of match fitness, Aguero is a goal threat whenever he’s on a football pitch.

After missing five games through injury, he played thirteen minutes in a 1-0 win over Olympiacos on Wednesday and could return to the Man City starting line-up vs Burnley on Saturday.
