Farsley Celtic join Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United on list of UEFA Euro 2016 payouts

Non League outfit Farsley Celtic have bagged a £20,000 windfall after allowing one of their former players to represent Gibraltar.

Former Farsley forward Adam Priestley played for the tiny British colony in their inaugural European Championships qualification campaign ahead of the 2016 tournament in France.

UEFA has distributed €100m between clubs releasing players for the final tournament and €50m among those clubs which released players for the qualifying competition irrespective of whether the national team qualified or not.

In total, 641 clubs received UEFA benefits for releasing players to qualification matches between 2014 and 2015 and to the finals last year.

Farsley, who are currently placed fourth in Evo-Stik First Division North, raked in €25,283 (£21,589) from Priestley's involvement.

Priestley, a former Leeds United trainee, has made 13 appearances for the country of his birth. He has since left Farsley to join Alfreton Town in the National League North.

Juventus collected the biggest pay-out after taking home €3,484,875 (£2,983,296), ahead of Premier League clubs Liverpool and Tottenham – who also both earned over €3million.

Sheffield Wednesday topped the worldwide earnings of Yorkshire's clubs with €619,908.92 (£533713.68) with Hull City claiming €394,111.48 (£339312.25)

Leeds United brought home €226,410.40 (£194929.17) while Doncaster Rovers also bagged a six-figure sum of €169038.60 (£145534.63)
