Fixtures: Barnsley face Crawley in season opener

NEWLY-relegated Barnsley will begin their fight to return to the second tier by welcoming Crawley Town to Oakwell on August 9.

Danny Wilson’s Reds will visit Crewe Alexandra in their first away game of the season the following Saturday and their first noteworthy derby will see local rivals Doncaster Rovers visit on September 6.

The return clash at the Keepmoat Stadium takes place on January 17.

October 4 will represent a date in the diary of Reds fans, when they visit Rochdale, managed by former manager Keith Hill, who left the club in December 2012.

The Dale boss will have to wait until the final day of the campaign on May 2 to make his Oakwell return.

Meanwhile, Wilson makes his Bramall Lane return to Sheffield United on November 1, with the home clash with the Blades being pencilled in for Easter Saturday, April 4.

Boxing Day provides a cross-Pennines trip to Preston for the Reds, who host Oldham on December 28 to see out 2014.

Barnsley host Bradford on October 11 and visit Valley Parade on April 25, their final away fixture of the campaign.
