Fleetwood 2 York City 1: Lacklustre York cause Foyle to be 'disappointed' at Fleetwood

York manager Martin Foyle made three changes following the 3-0 win over Altrincham, bringing in Greg Young for his debut at centre-back in place of Djoumin Sangare, Jonathan Smith replacing the injured Chris Carruthers in midfield and Michael Rankine coming in for Peter Till.

Fleetwood were on top from the start with York below par, the home side's passing and movement in stark contrast to the visitors, who relied on long high balls into the penalty area.

York were fortunate to be only one goal down at the interval, Gareth Seddon heading home when Danny Parslow failed to get in a challenge following Shaun Beeley's right-wing cross.

Jamie McGuire and Tony Barry were only inches away from adding to Fleetwood's lead.

It was only when York brought on wingers Till and David McDermott in the last half hour that they showed any threat.

But an 82nd-minute blunder by Jamie Meredith, who dropped a back-pass too short presented Magno Vieira with a clear run on goal, the Fleetwood striker slipping the ball comfortably past the advancing Michael Ingham.

Young, who had a good game on his first appearance, got a touch to a free-kick from Alex Lawless three minutes from time to reduce the arrears.

"That performance was a major disappointment," said Foyle. "I made a few changes to try and freshen things up a bit but we were lacklustre. Our passing in the final third was very poor."
