Fleetwood Town v Barnsley: Reds need to forget about Wembley '“ Adam Hammill

The Reds will be heading to the national stadium in a fortnight’s time to play Oxford in the final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

On Monday, the Barnsley players will be at the town’s Alhambra Shopping Centre as fans get the chance to pose with the Football League trophy.

Tuesday brings a trophy tour of local companies, before finishing up at the Metrodome, as Barnsley is urged to ‘Paint the Town Red’ in support of the Tykes.

Reds winger Adam Hammill insists the focus today has to be on three points as they look to bounce back from last week’s defeat to Southend United.

“It’s not long away now, but we need to focus as we’ve got a big game Saturday and two games over the Easter weekend that we need to win,” said Hammill, back after a three-match ban. “We need to get back in those play-offs and then we can all enjoy Wembley.

“We’ve got lads now who want to take an opportunity because there’s only 11 places for Wembley.

“So we all have to perform to our maximum and get a place, but the most important thing is the next three games in the league, getting as many points as we can to get in the play-offs.”

Barnsley face a Fleetwood side whom they knocked out in the area finals to reach Wembley.

“It will hurt them that we knocked them out, and they’re looking to stay in the league. I’m ready and raring to go. Missing three games was tough to take but it gave me the rest that I needed and to heal an injury.”

Barnsley’s Lloyd Isgrove, James Bree, Aidy White and Marley Watkins all need fitness checks.
