Fleetwood Town v Doncaster Rovers: Debutant Lynden Gooch will look to add '˜quality and goals' for Rovers

Darren Ferguson’s resurgent team are upwardly mobile and stand just six points off the play-offs.

Since losing 2-0 at Millwall on October 27, Doncaster have not been beaten on their travels, having triumphed at Blackpool, Cambridge United, Oldham and Southend.

They also picked up points in high-scoring draws at promotion hopefuls Coventry City (2-2) and Burton Albion (3-3).

Rovers are missing injured trio Cameron Stewart, Andy Butler and Harry Middleton today, but new loan signing Lynden Gooch will make his debut.

The 20-year-old forward – who left his American homeland to play in England when he was 16 – has joined Doncaster on a one-month loan deal from Premier League side Sunderland.

He made his Black Cats debut this season against Exeter in the Capital One Cup and is eager to get started at Rovers.

“I’ve been at Sunderland a good few years now so to make my debut was just a dream come true,” said Gooch, who has been capped at Under-23 level by the USA.

“I didn’t feel out of place, it just felt natural, so hopefully I can keep that going here at Doncaster.

“The manager told me to go out and enjoy it, which is what I did. That’s all I can do and that’s what I’m hoping to do here, just enjoy playing football.

“I like to play in the No 10 role just behind the main striker, I hope I can bring quality to the team with lots of goals, that’s what my game is.

“I’m really happy to get out on loan and get some more games under my belt.

“Being around experienced players who play in the Premier League week-in, week-out has made me develop really well.

“I’m really excited at the potential of making my Football League debut on Saturday, I can’t wait.”

Striker Andy Williams will be looking to continue his impressive record in front of goal. He has netted 11 goals in his last 14 games for Rovers.

Williams said: “It was a bit of a slow start so I’m probably a little behind where I’d like to be, but there’s still 20 games left so I’m more than capable of hitting my target.”
