Foot injury ends Tigers' interest in Harewood, while Weiss joins Bolton

MARLON HAREWOOD, one of several players to be linked with a possible move to Hull City during the transfer window, has been ruled out for up to three months.

The 30-year-old Aston Villa striker, who was also believed to be on the radar of former club West Ham, has suffered a broken metatarsal and will undergo surgery today.

Harewood scored six goals in 15 games when on loan at Newcastle United earlier in the season and the Championship leaders were keen to extend the deal.

However, Villa insisted any move had to be on a permanent basis to scupper Chris Hughton's plans.

One definite transfer target of Hull who did complete a move yesterday was Manchester City midfielder Vladimir Weiss, who decided to join Bolton Wanderers on loan until the end of the season.

The Slovakia winger has agreed to sign for Owen Coyle in an attempt to press his claims for a place at the World Cup having been on the fringes at Eastlands this term.

The 20-year-old is in line to make his debut against Burnley tonight in a game that is likely to be followed closely by everyone at the KC Stadium.

If Bolton pick up a point or victory, it will mean Hull, who are not in action due to their scheduled game at Manchester United having been played last Saturday instead, dropping a place to 19th.

Defeat for the Clarets at the Reebok Stadium would, however, not unduly worry Phil Brown with the out-of-form Turf Moor outfit being just one point and three places above the Tigers in the table.

Brown, meanwhile, is confident of having new signing Amr Zaki available for this weekend's crucial clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the KC Stadium.

Midfielder Jimmy Bullard, who has not featured since injuring his knee during the 3-0 defeat at Aston Villa on December 5, may also be included in the Tigers squad.
