The former PSV Eindhoven man and Netherlands under-21 player was the subject of a successful offer from the Rams on Wednesday, with Leeds having now equalled the offer.

West Brom also maintain an interest in the 27-year-old, who scored seven goals in 39 games for the Bees last term.

Meanwhile, Stoke City are keen on signing Huddersfield Town winger Tom Ince, who has emerged as an alternative target with the Potters’ hopes of signing Newcastle United’s Matt Ritchie seemingly thwarted after the Magpies insisted he was not for sale.

Ince, 26, has two years left on his deal at Town, having signed a three-year contract last summer ahead of a 2017-18 campaign which saw him endure mixed fortunes.

The Potters are looking for a replacement for Switzerland international Xherdan Shaqiri, who recently joined Liverpool for £13.5m.

Bolton Wanderers are maintaining their interest in in-demand Bradford City striker Charlie Wyke, subject of a couple of failed bids from Sunderland.

Speaking on Tuesday night, Wearsiders manager Jack Ross said that a potential deal for Wyke is ‘not straightforward’ with the former Carlisle United striker also tweaking his knee in Bradford’s friendly with Sheffield United this week - although the issue is not thought to be serious.

Doncaster Rovers will continue to monitor Bristol City forward Shawn McCoulsky, despite the fact that a medical condition is likely to delay any prospective loan move to the Keepmoat Stadium.

Earlier this year, McCoulsky was diagnosed with a heart condition after complaining with chest pains during a loan spell with Newport County last term.
