FC Halifax Town beat Forest Green to keep alive their hopes of staying in the National League.

The Shaymen started the day in the drop zone, but Shaquille McDonald’s goal with 20 minutes remaining was enough to clinch all three points.

Victory moves Halifax above Yorkshire rivals Guiseley, who now occupy their place in the relegation places.

Halifax now know a win at home to Macclesfield would be enough to keep them in the Conference, whatever the result from Guiseley’s home match with Torquay.
